ABOUT THE PROJECT
Western Living is an "old west" pseudo life sim. In this game you are a person just trying to make it by and repair an old cabin that you came into ownership of. The game utilises experimental gameplay mechanics that attempt to reflect reality in a fun way. Overall this product is meant to be a slower more calmer experience.
This project was a difficult one. I was the sole developer for this project and that meant achieving design goals would become a bit more difficult. Having strong Art & Design skills but weaker Programming skills meant that I would have to approach this project differently to the others. I explored many design iterations for this project looking for a balance of something that is fun and provides the experience I want while also being something that is feasible with the time and skill set I had.
I purposely pushed myself on this project to become a lot more comfortable with programming here as I did struggle to achieve what I wanted in the beginning. Having completed this project, my skills in all areas were again expanded and I have become so much more comfortable with programming.
